Liddy Elected Vice Chair of Deans for Computing Research Association

Elizabeth D. Liddy, dean of the (iSchool) was elected to the position of vice chair of the deans group for the  (CRA), an organization of more than 200 North American institutions active in computing research. Her election was announced during the July biennial conference in Snowbird, Utah. Liddy joins Raj Acharya, dean of the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing, named chair of the group, on the leadership team.

The CRA represents institutional academic departments in areas of computer science, information and computer engineering, as well as laboratories and centers from industry, government, academia and affiliated professional societies.

The mission of the CRA is to enhance innovation by joining industry, government and academia together to strengthen and advance education in computer and information science. Members of the CRA are called upon frequently for expert testimony for the federal government to enhance policy makers’ understanding of relevant issues and for consultation on federal investment in relevant programs.

“I am honored to be selected to the leadership team of the CRA,” says Liddy. “The organization ensures that computing research has a solid future, and enhances both public and policymaker knowledge of the importance of the computing and information disciplines to make the case for continuing federal investment in research.”

The CRA is also highly respected for its annual , which provides trusted data on undergraduate and graduate enrollment and degrees granted, as well as salary and demographic data on faculty, along with its CERP (Center for Evaluating the Research Pipeline) Report, which collects and shares semiannual survey data from a national sample to gauge success outcomes among students.
