Anthony D’Angelo Elected Public Relations Society of America鈥檚 2018 National Chair

The Leadership Assembly of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) voted Saturday to elect Anthony W. D鈥橝ngelo chair of the society for 2018. D鈥橝ngelo, who is a professor of practice in public relations at the , will serve as PRSA鈥檚 chair-elect on the National Board of Directors in 2017.

PRSA鈥檚 Leadership Assembly, comprised of more than 300 delegates representing PRSA鈥檚 districts, chapters, sections and student society, voted to approve the PRSA nominating committee鈥檚 leadership selection of D鈥橝ngelo to lead the national organization beginning Jan. 1, 2018.

鈥淚 am honored and humbled to be elected to serve PRSA as we look to the future of the society and the public relations profession,鈥� says D鈥橝ngelo. 鈥淚 believe our profession has a particular responsibility to model collaborative servant leadership, based on a solid ethical foundation and a commitment to giving people a say in decisions that affect them.鈥�

In addition to D鈥橝ngelo, several other candidates selected by the PRSA National Nominating Committee were elected to the PRSA’s national board of directors for two-year terms beginning in 2017.

D鈥橝ngelo joined the Newhouse School after more than 25 years of service in the corporate and agency sectors, including communications leadership roles for ITT Corp., the St. Joseph鈥檚 Hospital Foundation, Magna International, United Technologies and Sage Marketing Communications.

D鈥橝ngelo鈥檚 practice areas include change management, reputation management, branding and marketing communications. He helped develop the financial and investor communications emphasis at Newhouse. He has also contributed to two popular public relations textbooks.

D鈥橝ngelo has served PRSA in various leadership roles, including national secretary, chair of the College of Fellows and as founder of the M.B.A. program, which aims to bring strategic communications content to M.B.A. curricula nationwide. He has also served in a variety of PRSA board, district and chapter leadership positions.

D鈥橝ngelo鈥檚 pieces on the importance of strategic communications to organizational leadership have appeared in BusinessWeek, the Financial Times and the Public Relations Strategist. He is also a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal鈥檚 鈥淐risis of the Week鈥� column. He has presented seminars on change management at several conferences and universities over the past 15 years.
