Accomplished poet C. Dale Young is the next featured author in the 2016-17 . On Wednesday, March 22, he will participate in a Q&A at 3:45 p.m. and will read from his work at 5:30 p.m., with both activities taking place in Huntington Beard Crouse Hall’s Gifford Auditorium.
Young practices medicine full time and teaches in the Warren Wilson College M.F.A. Program for Writers. He is the author of four collections of poetry: “Day Underneath the Day” (Northwestern University Press, 2001), “The Second Person” (Four Way Books, 2007), “Torn” (Four Way Books, 2011) and “The Halo” (Four Way Books, 2016).
His linked collection of short stories, “The Affliction,” is forthcoming from Four Way Books in early 2018.
Young is a recipient of fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, the National Endowment for the Arts, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation.
His poetry and short fiction have appeared in many anthologies and magazines, including American Poetry Review, Asian American Poetry, The Atlantic Monthly, The Best American Poetry, The Nation, The New Republic, Next Generation, The Paris Review and POETRY.
