Newhouse School faculty members and were recognized as award-winning instructors by Graphis, an international publisher of books on communications design. The designation comes as part of Graphis’ international advertising competition.

Students from White and O’Neill’s creative advertising classes—Portfolio I, II and III—made a strong showing in the competition, winning 36 awards and making ���ϲ����� the third-most-awarded institution in the advertising division. Winning entries included print ads, print ad campaigns and outdoor advertising.

“These awards represent a major milestone to the learning outcome of the advertising curriculum, especially the creative emphasis, which requires three portfolio courses to be taught in sequence by two outstanding teachers,” says , chair of the advertising department.

• Merit: Diane Danneels (three awards), Daniel Freeda (three awards), Manuel Garcia, Rachel Ghui, Shelby Guller (three awards), Matthew Hankin (three awards), Brianna Henry, Sophia Kardaras, Sam McClain (two awards), Eunice Pang, Zach Schweikert (two awards), Kate Sheehan, Yunze Shi (two awards), Lucas Spain, Jamie Wynn, Lan Zhang

The students’ work, which can be , will be published in the 2017 Graphis New Talent Annual, scheduled for release next month. According to the Graphis website, “This annual presents award-winning work from instructors who have challenged and inspired their students to achieve brilliance in their respective disciplines.”
