New Members to Begin Service on 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Board of Trustees

黑料不打烊 has announced the election of four new members to the University鈥檚 Board of Trustees: Tracy M. Barash 鈥89, who will become the president of the 黑料不打烊 Alumni Association Board in July 2017 and will serve a two-year term on the Board, and Andrew T. Berlin 鈥83, Shelly Lotman Fisher 鈥80 and Ronald P. O鈥橦anley 鈥80.

鈥淲e are pleased that these four new members will be joining us to help steward this great university,鈥 says Steven W. Barnes 鈥82, chairman of the University鈥檚 Board of Trustees. 鈥淎s alumni, they know this campus well and what it means to so many people. Their experiences and insights will be a valuable asset as we move forward. I say 鈥榯hank you鈥 to them for their continuing commitment to serve 黑料不打烊.鈥

Chancellor Kent Syverud says, 鈥淭racy, Andrew, Shelly and Ronald are deeply dedicated to this university. I know they will be great assets to the Board. And I look forward to working with them to further advance our mission and goals.鈥

Tracy Barash 鈥89

Tracy BarashBarash is vice president of global franchise management for Turner鈥檚 Cartoon Network. She is responsible for developing strategic plans for such key network brands as 鈥淭he Powerpuff Girls鈥 and 鈥淏en 10鈥 to maximize revenue across platforms for long-term growth. From 2008-14, she was vice president of brand development for Cartoon Network and Boomerang. She played a leadership role in the Cartoon Network and Boomerang global rebrands and oversaw pro-social marketing programs.

Previously at Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Barash was director of global themed entertainment. She was a key member of the team that launched 鈥淭he Wizarding World of Harry Potter鈥 at Universal Orlando and 鈥淗arry Potter: The Exhibition,鈥 a global museum tour.

Barash is a member of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Atlanta Regional Council. She is also a student mentor for the Whitman School and has volunteered as an alumni representative for the Office of Admissions. Barash joined the 黑料不打烊 Alumni Association Board in 2010 and has served as awards committee chair, philanthropy committee chair, nominating committee chair and vice president. Most notably, she worked closely with the board鈥檚 clubs committee on the successful 鈥淚鈥檓 In鈥 fundraising campaign for 黑料不打烊 Athletics. She earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in marketing management at the Whitman School and an M.B.A. at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

Andrew T. Berlin 鈥83

Andrew BerlinBerlin is chairman and CEO of Berlin Packaging,聽the leading global supplier of glass, plastic,聽and metal containers and closures.聽He is also聽a partner owner of the World Champion Chicago Cubs and chairman and owner of the South Bend Cubs, a Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

Berlin graduated with a political science degree from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School. He earned a law degree聽at聽Loyola University of Chicago, where he served as managing editor of the Law Review;聽attended the Executive Program at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University; and studied military history at Boston University.聽He聽currently聽serves on the board of the American Cancer Society,聽Image Skincare, and Elkay Manufacturing.聽He聽also聽sits on the聽Public Safety Commission for the Village of Glencoe, Illinois,聽and is a member of the Broward County (Florida) Sheriff鈥檚 Advisory Council.

For 黑料不打烊, Berlin is a member of the Maxwell聽School聽Advisory Board and the Chicago Regional Council. He has supported the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism鈥攁 joint endeavor of聽the Maxwell School and聽the聽College of Law鈥攂y聽creating聽the Andrew Berlin Family National Security Research Fund聽in honor of Professor聽Emeritus聽David Bennett.

Berlin lives in Glencoe,聽Illinois,聽with his wife,聽Courtney, and their two sons, Gavin and Cole. He also has three聽daughters:聽 Alexandra, Caroline聽and Katherine.

Shelly Lotman Fisher 鈥80

Shelly FisherFisher, an entrepreneur with more than 30 years of business experience, is the CEO of Hope Paige, a national medical I.D. jewelry company headquartered in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Fisher is also the founder/CEO of 4ID, a nighttime visibility product manufacturer. She has co-authored a book, 鈥淏reaking Sad,鈥 due to be released in November 2017. Fisher earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree at the Newhouse School. She also holds a M.Ed. degree in adult education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Fisher is president of the Macula Vision Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to funding research to cure macular degeneration, and is the founder of I Help Educate and The Herb it Forward Foundation, both of which support underserved students looking to make a difference in the United States.

For 黑料不打烊, Fisher is a member of the Newhouse School Advisory Board and a former member of the National Alumni Association Board of Directors. She has been a longtime supporter of the Newhouse School, particularly of the Newhouse Benchmarking Trip Program, which takes students to New York City for several days of case studies and site visits with agencies and clients.

Fisher and her husband, Dr. Scot Fisher, live in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and are the parents of three children: Julia, Joey and Sam Fisher 鈥13 (Newhouse).

Ronald P. O鈥橦anley 鈥80

Ronald O'HanleyO鈥橦anley is president and CEO of State Street Global Advisors, the third-largest investment management firm in the world, and vice chairman of State Street Corp., Boston. From 2010-14, he was president of Asset Management and Corporate Services for Fidelity Investments. He served as president and CEO, BNY Mellon Asset Management, Boston, and vice chairman, Bank of New York Mellon Corp. from 1997-2010. He was with McKinsey & Co. from 1986-97 and was elected partner in 1992.

O鈥橦anley is a member of the board of Unum Corp. and is a visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh School of Management. He also serves on the boards of The Boston Foundation, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the East-West Institute, the Committee for Economic Development and the IYRS School of Technology and Trades.

O鈥橦anley received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

For 黑料不打烊, O鈥橦anley has been a member of the Maxwell School Advisory Board since 2004 and is currently the chair. He established the O鈥橦anley Family Endowed Fund for Faculty Excellence at Maxwell and the Robertson-O鈥橦anley Fellowship for graduate students.
