The Nicora Gangi poster for which an accompanying haiku is sought
The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Poster Project invites Central New York writers to submit haiku poems for the 2018 poster series, the 17th annual series. Each year the project brings together artists from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and poets from the community to create a series of 16 posters for the poster panels of downtown ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Each poster features an illustrated poem about downtown, the city or nearby countryside.
The new series will consist of 15 posters created the traditional way (poem first, illustration second) and one special poster created in reverse (illustration first, poem second). For the special poster, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ artist Nicora Gangi created an image about the city as a place of welcome for all people and cultures. Writers are invited to submit haiku for the traditional aspect and to complement Gangi’s image.

The submission deadline is Sept. 8. The project announces the selected poets and artists in December and releases the poster series in April.
