Hogan’s Lawyer Set To Take On Jezebel

Fresh off a victory in the Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker case, lawyer Charles J. Harder is set to clash in a defamation case with Jezebel, a publication formerly under the Gawker wing. Harder is representing Gregory Scherick in the libel case, which may hit snags due to statues of limitations following Gawker’s bankruptcy and even sale. Roy Gutterman commented on the case for Wall Street Journal.

“I would think the original statute of limitations would begin with the initial publication date in Jezebel,” he said, “which appears to be earlier than the Gizmodo date the plaintiff is arguing.” This decision will influence the outcome of the entirety of the case. Gutterman is an expert on the First Amendment, and is the Director of the Tully Center for Free Speech.
