College of Arts and Sciences faculty members,聽Duncan Brown, the Charles Brightman professor of physics, Peter Saulson, the Martin A. Pomerantz ’37 Professor of Physics,聽 commented on the recent neutron star collision that is helping researchers discover the origins of precious metals like gold and platinum.
鈥淚t鈥檚 one of the most complete stories of an astrophysical event that you could possibly imagine,鈥 says Saulson.
鈥淚 think the scientific impact of this discovery is actually going to be bigger than the first detection of black holes from gravitational waves. There is so much more physics and astronomy involved,” says Brown
