Duncan Brown, the Charles Brightman Endowed Professor of Physics at the College of Arts and Sciences,聽recently spoke with PBS NewsHour about the聽 discoveries that came from the detection of two neutron stars colliding. The event gave researchers new information regarding the origins of heavy metals, including gold and platinum.聽

鈥淭his really is a new type of astronomy, we鈥檙e bringing together all the tools a human has to bear on observing the universe,鈥� he said. 鈥淏ringing all these tools together is going to allow us to learn so much more about the universe.鈥�
