Maura Larkin Ivanick Appointed Interim Director of Advising and Career Services

Karin Ruhlandt, dean of the (A&S) and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, has announced the appointment of Maura Larkin Ivanick as interim director of advising and career services. The appointment is effective immediately.

Ivanick brings extensive experience to the position, having previously held other positions on campus, including director of academic advising and counseling services in A&S from 1997- 2003. She also spent three years as director of undergraduate services in the , and, from 2011-2015, was an academic counselor in the University’s Office of Advising and Academic Support.“Given her deep familiarity with the University, Maura is well-positioned to head up our ,” says Dean Ruhlandt. “She has strong credentials and experience working with students in a variety of capacities, and I am confident she is the right person to lead the office during this time of transition.”

As interim director, Ivanick will oversee the college’s largest non-academic unit. The office helps thousands of undergraduates achieve successful learning outcomes, complete their degrees and then transition into the workforce or into professional or graduate school.

“Advising our students on a wide range of issues is at the heart of what we do in Advising and Career Services,” Ivanick says. “I look forward to this new opportunity to work with Dean Ruhlandt, the entire Advising and Career Services staff and the faculty of the college.”

Ivanick has held leadership roles at Marymount College and Iona College, serving as registrar and assistant registrar, respectively. She earned a master’s degree in multicultural education and counseling and a bachelor’s degree in international studies and French from Iona. Ivanick is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration in the .
