On Nov. 4, the Tax Team placed first in the annual regional competition in Boston. The students, Yonglin Wang ’19, Leanne Paddock ’20, Jonathan Gauthier ’20, Yue Lei ’18, Ryan Houck ’20, Michael Leong ’20, Julie Le Hello ’20, Renee Nian ’19, Huimin Li ’18 and Charles Goldberg ’20, competed against teams from some of the nation’s top accounting and tax programs.
The Whitman Tax Team
“We beat teams from UConn and UMass to win Boston’s regional competition,” says , assistant professor of accounting practice, who sponsored the team. “Every year, the judges comment about how much they love our school spirit! We always come with orange!”
According to the company, “Deloitte FanTAXtic is an interactive program, which includes case simulation, role playing and presentations that provide students with insights and perspectives on challenges facing the profession today, future trends that may impact it tomorrow and the overall changing business tax marketplace. Deloitte Tax professionals participate in the event and offer the students support and guidance throughout the competition.”
The Whitman Tax Team will attend the National Competition at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas, just outside Dallas, Jan. 12-14, 2018.
