The Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience today announces plans to expand the activities, food and entertainment options during Mayfest this spring.
Each year, Mayfest is planned by a large committee of students and staff from across the University. The student-only event features live music, free food and activities. Past artists have included Tunji Ige, Cheat Codes, Vince Staples, Louis the Child and PUBLIC.
After meeting with student organizations and leaders to brainstorm new concepts to enhance the programming at Mayfest this fall, the Universitywide Mayfest planning committee will convene a subcommittee of students to identify more diverse and robust opportunities for the current Mayfest activities. Students interested in joining this subcommittee or providing ideas can email studentexperience@syr.edu.
“When we met with students in the fall semester, there was a lot of positive energy about expanding and enhancing Mayfest,” says Dolan Evanovich, senior vice president for enrollment and the student experience. “We are looking forward to the fresh ideas the students will offer and supporting a signature event that provides students with a fun, safe and engaging day to celebrate the year.”
Mayfest programming will continue to include live music, free food and activities. Alcoholic beverages will still be available to students of legal age by purchasing bracelets. This brings Mayfest in alignment with other student celebration events, such as Senior Celebration.
Details regarding the music lineup, tickets and activities will be available at a later date.
