As anticipation builds for Mayfest 2018, now is the time for students to plan ahead for the big day. Taking Mayfest up a notch, this year features additional activities, food and beverage options. Save the date for Friday, April 27, at 1 p.m. in Walnut Park.
While the overall process will be similar to years past, this year, students need to take note of changes to the 21-and-over section of the park. Access information below on what attendees need to know about Mayfest 2018.
The Artists
As announced by University Union, the entertainment for Mayfest 2018 features singer-Âsongwriter QuinnÌýXCII, rapper YBN Nahmir and DJ—producer Orange Calderón.Ìý
The Beverage Bracelets
This year, as shared in February, beverage options are expanded for students of legal age to purchase and will include beer, gluten-free beer, wine slushies and hard cider.
Bracelets are $3 and include three tabs that can be exchanged for three alcoholic beverages in the designated beverage area. SU SUpercard and debit cards cannot be used to pay for bracelets. Cash/credit cards are accepted. One beverage bracelet will be allowed per person.
Current undergraduate students of legal age must present a valid ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ or State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) ID and government-issued ID to purchaseÌýone beverage bracelet.
Guests and current ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ graduate and law students of legal age must purchase and present a valid guest ticket and government-issued ID to purchase one beverage bracelet.
Beverage bracelets will be available for purchase for students of legal age at the Schine Student Center Goldstein Auditorium upper lobby area.ÌýYouÌýWILL NOTÌýbe able to purchase a beverage bracelet at Walnut Park during the Mayfest event, so please plan ahead and pick up your beverage bracelet early. Be sure to keep the beverage bracelet on; all attendees of Mayfest must have an affixed beverage bracelet with tabs attached to enter the designated beverage area. There will be no entry/re-entry into the designated beverage area if all tabs are gone.
The Enhancements
This year, in addition to live music, Mayfest will have more activities. Along Walnut Park attendees can interact with inflatables, a lounge area, various photo opportunities, an art installation, giant board games, henna and airbrush tattoos. There will also be a silent disco featuring student DJs: Nich Hoffman, Khari Brandes, Culture Clash and Ryan French. These enhancements are in addition to expanded food and beverage options.
The Food
Get ready for the corn dogs! This year, Mayfest will continue to offer free food for students. In addition to the popular returnees, new food options will be at this year’s Mayfest. Students can expect food trucks at this year’s event with options including kettle corn and fries.
ÌýThe Tickets
All SU/ESF undergraduate students with a valid student ID get in for free.
All SU and SUNY-ÂESF graduate students, SU College of Law students and guests of SU undergraduate students, along with a valid SU/SUNY-ÂESF, college or military I.D., can purchase a guest ticket. Guest tickets will NOT be available at the park and must be purchased forÌý$23.50 at the Schine Box Office, beginning Tuesday, April 17, at 9 a.m. Guest tickets purchased by SU/SUNY-ÂESF undergraduate students are limited to two per ID.
