Communications design (CMD) students in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ School of Design won big in the international competition.
Five of the 12 winning entries in the graphic design student category were submitted by members of the CMD Class of 2018: Jackie Akerley, Sami Albert (two entries), Alison Emmel and Liz Tosi.
Five of the 14 graphic design runners-up were also from CMD: Albert, Emmel, Gabriella Hale ’18, Minjung Kim ’19, and Kevin O’Toole ’19. In the advertising student category, Erin Reeves ’18 was one of three runners-up.
“The success that our CMD students had in this quality competition is a nod to all of their hard work and the professional-level projects that the CMD program strives for,” says Rebecca Kelly, assistant professor of CMD.

All winners will be exhibited in the Winter 2019 issue of Creative Quarterly and in its online gallery.
Creative Quarterly is an international journal focusing on promoting the best work in graphic design, illustration, photography and fine art.
Communications designers translate ideas and information through a variety of media. The School of Design’s leads to a bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree. Classes are modeled on professional practice, and students develop the ability to solve real-world problems along with a variety of skills in graphic media.
