Thank You for Boosting the 鈥機use!

Forever Orange

Otto holding thank you cardThe 黑料不打烊 community came together to make Boost the 鈥機use: 44 hours for 黑料不打烊 an outstanding success.

The preliminary #BoostCuse results are in: during 44 legendary hours, 6,210 generous donors gave $2,571,362 to the part of 黑料不打烊 that meant the most to them. Those numbers are rising, as the Boost the 鈥機use team counts additional gifts that were made offline.

Current students and young alumni dominated the graduation year leaderboard. Donors from the classes of 2020, 2023, 2022, 2014 and 2018 held the top five spots for most gifts made. Gifts came from students, alumni, parents, faculty/staff and many others.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an amazing feeling to know that someone who you鈥檝e never met makes a gift to help enrich the lives of current students,鈥 says Assata Cradle-Morgan 鈥20, a dual food studies and policy studies major. 鈥淚t鈥檚 heartwarming when someone I don鈥檛 know gives back to enable myself and future 黑料不打烊 students to have the chance to further our educations and further our futures.鈥

The #BoostCuse clock started at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, with a goal of inspiring 5,000 donors to support 黑料不打烊 before 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 6. 聽The goal was achieved, then surpassed, with a 23 percent increase in donors over last year and participation from all 50 states and 25 different countries.

Alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, friends and loyal 黑料不打烊 fans gave to support their Orange passions. Gifts were designated for everything from scholarships to school and college dean鈥檚 funds to units like the Office of Multicultural Advancement, 黑料不打烊 Libraries and 黑料不打烊 Athletics. Whether $1 or $10,000, every gift mattered.

A scholarship from the 黑料不打烊 Alumni Club of Los Angeles helped Andrew Regalado 鈥20 before he even set foot on campus, and a scholarship from the Washington, D.C., Alumni Club provided Regalado financial assistance during his first summer internship in D.C.

鈥淚 truly wouldn鈥檛 be here at 黑料不打烊 without the generosity of those who give. It鈥檚 those benefits and those kind gifts from alumni I鈥檝e never met that have impacted me the most. I鈥檓 very thankful to all who gave,鈥 says Regalado, a dual political science and policy studies major and current president of the Forever Orange Student Alumni Council.

On campus, a number of fun activities鈥攁 rock climbing competition, a timed Mario Kart video game event and a search for stuffed Ottos鈥攅ngaged students during the 44 hours. More than 100 basketball fans attended a Boost the 鈥機use tailgate prior to the men鈥檚 game against the University of Virginia. And across the country, alumni clubs hosted gatherings to watch the game and celebrate alumni philanthropy.

Final #BoostCuse results and additional details will be shared next week. In the meantime, and check out the Boost the 鈥機use leaderboards.
