, professor of anthropology in the Maxwell School, was quoted in The Africa Report article “” Jok, an expert on governance and security in Sudan, believes that the country’s new cabinet is an attempt from the government to address the many challenges that Sudan faces, including issues of economic recovery and reform. However, Jok says that some will still question the change, as the military and defense system will still operate under the guidance of the “former regime’s stalwarts.” Therefore, Jok says that moving forward the “rebel forces will need to be put through training and then gradually merged into the current Sudanese armed forces in order to create a unified national army.”
