University鈥檚 Service of Commemoration to Be Held Virtually on March 16

黑料不打烊 will hold its fourth Service of Commemoration鈥攈onoring students, faculty, staff, retirees and trustees of 黑料不打烊 and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) who passed during the period of Jan. 1, 2019, to the present鈥攚ith a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. ET.

Due to COVID-19 and ongoing guidelines to promote health and safety, the 2021 ceremony will be offered entirely through Zoom. All are welcome to attend and honor the important contributions of respected members of the University community. Please register online on the . The names of those who have passed away will be read and candles will be lit collectively in their memory. Remarks will be offered by Chancellor Kent Syverud, SUNY-ESF President Joanie Mahoney and others. The service will also include prayer and music by the Hendricks Chapel Choir, led by director Peppie Calvar. Communication Access Real-Time Translation and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be available.

The service is inspired by the Remembrance Scholars鈥� motto of 鈥淟ook Back, Act Forward,鈥� a call to action to remember those we have lost and act forward in their memory.

鈥淭he Service of Commemoration not only provides us with a moment to honor those who have recently passed away, but in light of the ongoing global pandemic, we also view this particular ceremony as an opportunity to acknowledge all those who grieve鈥攂oth near and far鈥攁nd are in need of our shared support,鈥� says Hendricks Chapel Dean Brian Konkol. 鈥淲e hope this time of pause and prayer will nurture the spirit and soul of our campus community and beyond.鈥�
