Grant Reeher, professor of political science and director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute in the Maxwell School, was quoted in The National Interest article “.” Reeher, an expert on the 2016 presidential election and American politics, says that Carlson’s loyal viewership may speak to his ability to gain support if he were to run for office. “Carlson has been keen to focus on the supposed failings and absurdities of Democratic elites, and that puts him in as good a position as any to inherit his supporters鈥攖hose for whom Trump, as an individual candidate and office-holder, carried some extra appeal beyond the standard Republican brand,” Reeher says.
