Dear Members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Community:

This is a very good day on our campus. The first supply of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine has arrived at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Today, hundreds of students will be vaccinated at the Barnes Center as we begin a campaign to vaccinate our students, faculty and staff. In the coming days and weeks, we expect to receive enough doses to vaccinate our university community.

After a long year, this should give all of us hope for a return to a normal campus experience. Accordingly, as of June 1, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ will require a COVID-19 vaccination for all students, faculty and staff who access campus over the summer months. All new and returning students as well as faculty and staff will be required to be vaccinated prior to the Fall 2021 semester. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the University has taken actions to create a safe living, learning and working environment. Having our students, faculty and staff vaccinated is the next important step in protecting our community.

Medical and religious exemptions will be accommodated, but the expectation is the vast majority of our community will receive a vaccination. If you have not been vaccinated yet, I urge you to pre-register today. Students can ; faculty and staff, . When it is your turn to receive a vaccination, Barnes Center staff will contact you by text or email.

For students who have already been vaccinated or choose to be vaccinated at an off-campus location, please submit your documentation through the . For faculty and staff, consistent with the University’s flu vaccination protocol, in the coming days you will receive and are expected to complete a brief COVID-19 Vaccine Status attestation questionnaire.

A lot has been asked of our community this year. At every turn, you have demonstrated what it means to be Orange by navigating these extraordinary times with grit, grace and determination. Now, I ask that each of you take the next step by being vaccinated. It protects you. It protects those you love. And it protects the community we all call home.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Kent Syverud
