Thomas Keck, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, was interviewed for the Newsweek story “” Keck, who serves as the Michael O. Sawyer Chair of Constitutional Law and Politics, is an expert on the U.S. Supreme Court. Keck said that while Biden’s replacement will have minimal short-term effect on the court, as the conservative majority will remain, the process will serve as a reminder of what’s at stake for Democrats.

“It keeps the Court in the headlines, and it keeps reminding people that we have six very conservative justices on this Court, and they’re about to gut Roe vs. Wade, and in June they are going to gut it. It just keeps it more in the front of voters’ minds,” Keck said.
